Every bot gets a computer
In the free app: a cloud desktop from a provider you connect, spun up on its own with a live screen preview. Or point the bot at this Mac.

The open source Grok Bot alternative. Free and open source. Bring your AI account or API key. Provider fees and limits apply.
Start with one bot and one provider. No connected apps or cloud computer needed.
Choose your computer’s installer and open MausBot. The phone apps are companions; start on your computer.
Use the onboarding engine check to install and sign in to one supported agent, such as Claude Code or Codex. Follow its install or sign-in instructions, then check again. You can also find this in App settings → Agent engines.
Select New or share → New bot. Give it a name, choose the connected engine and an available model. A working folder is only needed for tasks involving files.
Ask your bot to plan your day, summarize notes, or draft an email. Start with one clear request and review its answer.
Give each bot a job, a brain, and a computer. They run in parallel on your own machine, and come back when something needs you.

Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Notion, Linear and hundreds more over Composio. OAuth once, every bot can use them.
Pin, mark unread, duplicate, hide, delete. It's a messaging app, and your agents behave like contacts.
Hit call and it's a conversation. It hears you, narrates its work, and asks for approvals out loud.
On it. Sending them now.
Paste credentials once and the provider fleet hot-reloads. Secrets are write-only, so the UI never sees them.
Every bot's routines sit on one week, so you can see what runs when.
Bots run on the claude, codex, and grok CLIs already installed on your computer, using your logins and your subscriptions, with no proxy in the middle.
A single server on 127.0.0.1 owns every agent process and normalizes each provider's native protocol into one event stream.
Transcripts, keys, and events live in ~/.openmausbot on your own disk. Local-first is the default, not a setting.
Pick a job to see what its bot reports back, and what it waits for you to approve.
Finds the deals that went quiet, works out who owes the next step, and drafts each follow-up. Nothing sends until you approve it.
Every bot borrows a brain, a pair of hands, and a set of keys. These are the companies behind each one. Want your product here? Become a partner.
Swap setups, ask for help with your own bots, follow releases as they ship, and tell us what to build next. The maintainers are in there every day.
Share a workflow: include the task, a screenshot with private details removed, and the result. Tell us whether we may feature it and how to credit you. We’ll add approved examples to the showcase.
The desktop app comes in 10 languages. It follows your computer's language, and you can switch any time in Settings.
Some translations are still growing, so a few screens may show English for now.
The MausBot desktop and companion apps are free and open source under Apache 2.0. Model usage is separate: bring a supported provider account or API key. Your provider’s pricing, usage limits, and terms apply. A subscription to one provider does not include access to other providers. Cloud hosting and some optional services cost extra.
Yes. Every Cloud plan starts with a 3-day free trial, with $5 of Claude credit included. Checkout asks for a card, and your first payment is on day 4; cancel before then and you pay nothing. We email you a reminder 1 day before your first payment. The trial is one per person. The desktop app is free and needs no trial.
Desktop downloads are available for macOS (Apple silicon and Intel), 64-bit Windows, and x86-64 Linux (.deb and AppImage). Android and iOS have companion apps, shared in our Discord. See the download page for platform requirements and installation steps.
No. You can start by chatting with a bot using one connected provider. Connect an app or enable computer access only when a task needs it. Those integrations can have their own accounts, permissions, and charges.
Access depends on the engine, working folder, connected apps, and computer permissions you enable. Supported actions can show approval requests in chat. Review the requested action before allowing it; approval coverage depends on the engine and tool, so it is not a guarantee that every action will pause. Start with a small task and a dedicated working folder.
The desktop app keeps local conversation and workspace data on your computer. Your prompts and relevant context are sent to the model provider you choose; connected apps receive the data needed for their actions. A Cloud workspace stores and processes its workspace data on the hosted server. Local storage does not mean model requests stay on your device.
The phone app is a companion that connects to the computer or server hosting your bots. For the free desktop setup, keep MausBot open and your computer awake and connected to the internet. Pairing a phone does not move your bots to the cloud.
Bots hosted on that computer cannot work while it is asleep, offline, or shut down. To keep working independently of your laptop, you need an always-on host, such as a separately configured server or the optional paid MausBot Cloud workspace.
Start with the installation instructions on the download page. For questions, join Discord support. For reproducible bugs, open a GitHub issue with your operating system, app version, and steps to reproduce. Remove credentials and private content before sharing logs or screenshots.
Free and open source. Connect one supported provider and start with a useful task. Provider fees and limits apply.

In their own words, on X.
Grok Bot launched today. This guy already built an open source version. And shipped it. 🤯 It is called OpenMausBot. It does everything Grok Bot does. It runs on the Claude and Codex subscriptions you already have.
Vaibhav Sisinty@VaibhavSisinty on X ↗It’s a great application! I did not make this, but I am a contributor and had my PR merged which was an MCP server for external agent orchestration. I connect my Hermes agent to it so that all of my agents can communicate. If you haven’t used OpenMausBot, I highly recommend it.
Eric@aialchemist_dev on X ↗lets goooo its great to have this feature and its sad grok bot didn’t come with it once the mobile app is live this thing will be the best agent software of 2026
Artur Kre@Arturkre on X ↗Thanks, I just installed @mausbot_ on my server, so it can update the cards for the other teams within our company. They now have real-time data on their dashboards. 😃
Jens H. Nielsen@jenshnielsen on X ↗No freaking ways. You are insanely fast haha. The stack is the best too, cua and box are amazing. Composio is the best for plugins. Can't wait to dig in. Thank you for this!
Kartik@1kartikkabadi1 on X ↗Your bots. Your machine. Your keys. That is an amazing flex most others can’t! Well done you guys 👏👏👏
kkiran@kkiran on X ↗Very impressive. Why would anyone need Grok bot now?
Michael Fiorentini@monaco_banker on X ↗I’m 21, building KIN solo, and running my daily operations with an autonomous AI team on my own laptop. Not paying $200/month for closed platforms or hosted bot wrappers. I run OpenMausBot locally 100% open source and completely free.
Vishal Borana@vish34borana on X ↗Animal. @elonmusk you're going to have to hire this guy before he outships the Cursor team.
Saleem S. Khatri@SaleemSKhatri on X ↗I feel like a lot of people are sleeping on openmausbot. Its the best combo of grok, muse and hermes not that those are useless.
riz@rizvancodes on X ↗The interesting signal here: nobody wants another $120/mo seat. Intelligence on your machine should come with it, not billed like headcount.
kosovan@kosovan on X ↗I've been using it since yesterday, honnestly impressed with the quality of the product, congrats man.
Joe Slain@JoeSlain on X ↗Grok Bot got released today and within 4 hours an OSS clone exists! We are living in some truly interesting times!
Keith W@keith__w on X ↗Someone already shipped an open-source Grok Bot alternative. No new subscriptions. Uses the ones you already pay for. Spins up VMs, full computer use, plugin support via Composio.
Mauricio Gallmur@MGallmur on X ↗Giving AI agents this level of dynamic personality makes the whole user experience feel so much more alive.
Internet Labs@internetlabsai on X ↗I’ve been building with OMB and have a really great set of custom teams. I’ve tweaked it to run only my own local models and also my own agent computer (not the cloud sub 😏). Thanks for building this.
Ryan@HumanHitsSend on X ↗This is the closest open-source project to Grok Bot that I’ve seen so far. I’ve contributed two PRs to it before. The lack of iOS mobile support once forced me to uninstall it, but now it’s time to fire it up again!
Deamfarer@ZhouYimingsjtu on X ↗Have tried almost every alternative GrokBot provider out there and right now, @mausbot_ is by far the best out together, the best developed, most cross agent capable, and most flexible if you run your own infrastructure. I stand behind this.
Gabe Fletcher@gabefletcher on X ↗Running it on an Azure VM — works well for keeping the agent persistent/always-on.
Gunjan Chokshi@viewofmind on X ↗I'm hooked to this grokbot style harness with existing coding agents with OpenMausBot. My previous harness where I made my Hermes act like a broker between the coding agents is outdated.
Koshik@rajkoshik on X ↗I think having the crons on a calendar is great! Haven’t seen them visualised like that before
Dale@ddaalee on X ↗I am using it and love it. It is the real deal.
Awny@awny_faris on X ↗I gathered five AIs into one group chat in OpenMausBot, the open-source version of Grok Bot, and had them debate. Codex on business strategy and mission, Grok Build on product ideas and brand, Antigravity on design and customer experience, OpenCode on development, operations and a 90-day plan, Claude Code on flagging risks and pulling it all together. This is fun!!

Maki@Sunwood AI Labs.@hAru_mAki_ch on X ↗seems far superior to grok bot at least in terms of config flexibility. Testing it now.. :)
Hugo Catarino@hugocatarino on X ↗Im spreading the gospel of your product I really hope it’s gonna keep being maintained :)
HardGuy@whentonn on X ↗@OpenMausBot is an amazong tool and i am a witness to the extent that @milindlabs works on it every day. Smart. Free. Fast.
Nathan Romano@nathanromano on X ↗solid release, running on existing subscriptions removes a big barrier for adopters
David T Kramaley@simplydt on X ↗Keep it up with OpenMausBot, it’s a very good product that more people should know about 👏
Translated from Spanish
Alvaro Cerpa@alvarocerpa_ on X ↗Congratulations, it's top-notch. I hope to contribute to the project; it looks really good and promising.
Kesley DEV@kesleydev on X ↗What we ship, as we ship it.

Make your own Grok bot style mascot for free. It has 20+ expressions and animations that show different states of the bot. -> upload svg of your choice -> adjust the eyes -> check all the states ->download the code -> send to claude, codex or any other agent I used this
Benji Taylor Had a lot of fun animating our new Grok Bot icon. It's entirely made in code, with every state, shape and expression able to morph smoothly into the other. And of course, I made it with Grok Build.
I put my bots on a calendar I hate the routines UI that every harness app has right now For me it only makes sense to put the routines on a calendar So I did just that in OpenMaus The open source version of Grok Bot now has routines
We now have webhook support. That means OpenMausBot can now react when something happens in the outside world This was a suggestion from @Arturkre, and honestly, it makes a lot of sense. You want OpenMaus to work with your other agents and apps. For example, connect your

Grok Bot cannot use your android phone But OpenMausBot now can You can now connect your android via a USB and ask your it to open apps, tap, type, swipe, scroll, and get things done on your actual phone. It uses the phone harness skill for android and works really well Open
so your bot just did something useful. Why should it ever forget how? I built a skill recorder in OpenMausBot based on the pstack article by @poteto It watches while you chat, collects every command that it runs and converts it all into a skill with a click of a button Now
lauren I'm writing a guide to pstack! Here's part one.
ngl the iOS Dynamic Island looks quite good. still refining it. launching the app soon for OpenMausBot.
you can already self-host @mausbot_ We’ve worked hard to make the developer experience great. but you shouldn’t need to be so technical to get started. we are launching one-click cloud deployment. We handle the hosting and server setup, with priority support whenever you need
